Crews were called to the grass fire on Albert Street at 2.30am, Thursday, May 23.
Fire and Rescue said crews swiftly responded to the scene to find a large area of grass alight.
"Crews spent an hour and a half extinguishing the fire among large blackberry bushes and thick grass," they said.
"Area rendered safe and blacked out."
They said the cause of the fire was deemed suspicious.
"On a side note, if you see an incident where emergency vehicles and personnel are in attendance, please try refrain from driving or passing past or around the incident to allow us to do our jobs safely," they said.
