It took two years to build and Moriarty's Adrian Quinn said it provided him with some much-needed time in the shed to shake off depression. Mr Quinn took his spectacular custom Harley Davidson motorcycle dubbed Hell Hound to the Art Moto event at Ulverstone on Saturday in the name of men's mental health. "I brought it out as a conversation piece, to get people talking," Mr Quinn said. "I built it myself at a time when I needed to spend some time in the shed and concentrate on a project. "It took two years and I rode it to Sydney to 2015 to enter it in the Bankstown Bike Show and it won bike of the show. "Not bad for a Tassie boy, I thought. "It is rigid bike and the ride to Sydney was a bit hard on the kidneys but I made it." Art Moto was held in the Gnomon Pavilion at the Ulverstone wharf on Saturday - the first since 2021. Organiser Mike Blake said the event went really well despite a smaller-than-hoped-for crowd. "The highlight from the motorcycle perspective was a stunning hand built BMW R65 café racer by Andrew Knott from Atomic Blender in Hobart," Mr Blake said. "We were also supported by the small ford club who brought along some of their prized cars." Mr Blake said the winter community event combined a theme of creativity with motorcycles, artworks and cars with some good food and entertainment thrown in. "The event is a positive action mental health initiative, providing social interaction, stimulus and entertainment at a time of year when many struggle with winter depression," he said. "Art Moto also aims to involve young artists and musicians to build their confidence and mix with others, and provide exposure for niche local businesses." The musicians who performed were all local: Jada Li Crossey, Don College Bands Disciples of the Cavern and COM, Scientist Alexis and One Note Stand choir, The Heartbeats / Fonzies Dancers Demonstration and the Dylan Boys Trio The artists involved were Nigel Minchin, Judy Radford, Marie Ann Ward, Judy Beswick, Nanette King, Ariel Pascoe, Dorian Reeves and Sasha Pryer.
