Batemans Bay Sailing Club vice commodore and regatta coordinator Lachlan Brown said the event was the biggest annual sailing event on the NSW south coast with competitors travelling from Sydney, Canberra and all over south-eastern NSW.
The event has been running for 40 years and attracts boats from all different classes: dinghy sailors, trailable yachts and sports boats.

Mr Brown is particularly excited about the VX1 sports boats who will be using the Batemans Bay event as their NSW championships. There will be 12 to 14 boats racing in the class.
Sailing is a welcoming sport for all ages and abilities. The event is run in conjunction with Sailability Batemans Bay and will include a safer course for less confident sailors.
The boats will rig up at Corrigans Beach, and Mr Brown said this was a perfect moment on Saturday or Sunday morning for members of the public to see the boats close up.
The race can best be viewed from Corrigans Beach or Observation Point.
Racing begins at 12:30pm on Saturday April 23 and 11:am on Sunday April 24.
