The Batemans Bay Seahawks missed out on this year's competition against ACT opponents due to COVID-19. The club was lucky to get a game in against each other before coronavirus scratched their season. It was a fundraising match in March that raised $5000 for Malua Bay RFS.
"We had special jumpers made and all the boys from the coast versed the boys from the country," seniors coach Michael Kenny said.
About 200 people attended the game and fundraising function in the clubhouse afterwards. There was a money jar at the bar and Kenny said people were very generous after the fires. He said an auction sold off 12 items of AFL and NRL memorabilia, and finals tickets in corporate boxes which were later cancelled due to the pandemic.
"It was a really good night," he said.
"We haven't been able to present the donation because of COVID."
Malua Bay RFS met Kenny at Hanging Rock on Thursday to receive the gift, however suggested others who would benefit from the funds. Volunteer firefighter Robert Blake said the donation was divvied between Malua Bay, Belowra, Nerrigundah, Tin Pot and Deua River RFS.
"It was originally all for us, but we are fortunate in our area where we can raise money easier," Mr Blake said.

"The outback brigades find it more difficult, so each received $1000 from the Seahawks.
"We thank the footy club for their generous donation and efforts through these COVID times."
Kenny said the Seahawks penciled in another Coast vs Country fundraising match for March next year.
"We are keen to go again and want to fundraise for a local mental health organisation," he said.
