A 1920's Broadway musical comedy, The Drowsy Chaperone delivers wonderful music, dazzling dance numbers, hilarious slapstick comedy and all the glitz and glamour of the era.
Matthew Burgess, Roy Smith and Anna Smart were busy at rehearsals over the weekend, working on one of many funny musical numbers in the show.
Roy Smith plays Robert Martin, the dashing and debonair leading man, newly engaged and hopelessly in love with Broadway starlet, Janet Van De Graaff, played by Anna Smart.
Matthew Burgess as Man-in-Chair, sets the scene of Robert and Janet in a garden, singing a delightful duet called 'Accident Waiting to Happen'.
Audiences will have to see the show in April to find out what kind of accident and whether it happened.
Play explorations workshop
The Bay Theatre Players resumed play exploration evenings last Monday. The play explorers were in excellent form and a great time was had by all who attended.
The play explored was A Good Man by local published author, play writer and musician, Stafford Ray.
A Good Man is based on true events that happened during WW2 and directly impacted upon the Ray family for many generations.
Those who attended Monday's workshop found the play interesting and in parts, challenging.

- Bay Theatre Players spokesperson.
As this play is still in development, and given the COVID-19 restrictions, Bay Theatre Players will host a workshop with the author on Saturday, December 5.
Theatre play workshops allow a play to be staged without props, costumes, sets or musical accompaniment, while providing the opportunity for the play's author edit and review their work.
The workshop starts at 10am and finishes at 3.30pm with actors working with the script in hand.
There are multiple roles for both males and females, from ages 25 and up.
If you are interested in the workshop, email Ruth Henderson at baytheatreplayers@gmail.com before November 27 .
