The Game's Afoot is a comedy that takes place in 1930s New York and is full of murder, mystery and mayhem that will keep the audience laughing until the final bow.
Set at Christmas time in 1936, this hilarious play follows William Gillette, a Broadway superstar famous for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes.
Gillette has invited fellow cast members to his opulent home for a night of revelry, but when one of the guests winds up dead, Gillette has to assume the persona of his beloved Sherlock to track down the killer before the next victim appears.
It will be a directorial debut for one of the Bay Theatre Players long-standing members and contributors, Roy Smith.
Roy's theatrical journey started at the age of 10 with a role as a deflated boss in the 2004 production of Bats.
Since than he has appeared in over 15 productions on the Bay Playhouse stage, with roles ranging from a mouse in Can you hear the Music to a suspected murderer in Agatha Christie's Murder is Announced.
The 2020 season takes him into new territory as the director of the Ken Ludwig production The Game's Afoot.
"I'm looking forward to working with mentors Sam Haslam and Jack Helmore to help bring Sherlock Holmes to life on the Playhouse stage," Roy said.
