It is a unique organisation in that every person involved including the committee and tutors is a volunteer.
Tutors are members who offer their time, knowledge and interests to others.
The annual membership fee (currently $40), entitles participants to be involved in as many different courses as desired.
There are 12 new courses starting this year as well as 39 courses which have run before.
Altogether there are 64 activities from which members can choose in the first semester.
Courses and activities are held at a variety of venues throughout the shire.
Some of the many activities enjoyed by U3A participants are classified under the broad headings of History and Culture; Literary Activities; Languages; Arts and Crafts; Recreational Activities; Physical Activities; and General Interest.
Why not join this active array of community activities and events, one or many of which will surely be of interest.
To do this, visit Registration Day at the Batemans Bay Community Centre, Museum Square on Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 9:30am to 11.30am.
This is a great event where some of the more than 650 Batemans Bay U3A members come to renew their membership (if they haven't done it online), talk to tutors, enrol in classes and chat with friends all while they are enjoying a sumptuous morning tea.
For anyone who is interested in finding out more about U3A courses, there is a dedicated New Members Room where you can obtain information and join on the day.
You are very welcome to look around and talk to the tutors about the various activities on offer before joining.
As well as being a terrific social event, Registration Day offers everyone the best opportunity to enrol in the courses they want.
To enrol as new member online, the website is: bbay.u3anet.org.au, click "Join U3A" and follow the instructions provided.
