The fire has jumped the Kings Highway in several places and the road remains closed.
Fire crews want the Batemans Bay community to be prepared for the continued spread of the blaze.
A community meeting will be held on Sunday, December 22, at 4pm at Hanging Rock.

In 1994, a fire at Runnyford, south-west of Batemans Bay, was carried back towards Catalina, Lilli Pilli and surrounds. Many of the areas burnt in that fire are now populated. Batemans Bay RFS Captain Ian Aitken describes the danger here.

Fire activity is easing on the fireground.
This large fire is burning between Burrill Lake and Morton National Park in the north, Braidwood in the west, and Batemans Bay in the south.
Reports indicate significant fire impact around Nerriga and Sassafras. Building Impact Assessment teams have been deployed to investigate.

Do not be in the path of the fire.
Protect yourself from the heat of the fire. Wear protective clothing and footwear. Cover all exposed skin.
If the fire impacts, seek shelter in a solid structure to protect yourself from the heat of the fire.
