Starting on the eastern side near Cesjacks Hut, walkers took a broad circuit around Mt. Jagungal following Doubtful Creek to Grey Mare Fire Trail returning via the Strumbo Range and McAlister Saddle, a distance of about 35 kilometres.
The open plains and low hills, interrupted by granite boulders were a delight to walk and offered endless views. A multitude of interesting insects, including a colourful grasshopper were enjoyed and thankfully the March flies were not in the mood to bite.
A white-lipped snake and larger copperhead snake were two reptiles seen by walkers as well as evidence of crustaceans on the boggy flats.
The group saw no one else on their journey and were delighted to have this magical wilderness all to themselves.
