At the last meeting of the Batemans Bay Indoor Aquatic Centre Committee (BBIACC), Mayor Liz Innes, Lindsay Usher (ESC Director of Planning and Sustainability Services), and Stephen Phipps (Mackay Park Project Coordinator) reported on the recently held Community Engagement Groups regarding the proposed Batemans Bay Regional Aquatic, Arts and Leisure Centre.

Over two-and-a-half days, representatives of more than 100 user groups covering a wide section of the community, had the opportunity to put forward their ideas and visions for the centre.
Liz, Lindsay and Stephen all agreed that there had been extensive in-depth discussion about the next development stage, with much positive feedback and many useful suggestions.
The mayor congratulated members, past and present, of the BBIAC, who have been campaigning and raising money for an indoor aquatic centre for over 30 years. With a recent grant from the NSW government, and good prospects of a similar one from the federal government, this centre, along with leisure and arts components, looks like finally becoming a reality.
Three concepts will be developed and presented to the community for discussion and comment early next year. Council will then present a final concept to the already appointment architects, who will then submit their final plan for Council approval.
The next meeting of the BBIACC will be held at 5.30pm on Monday, November 26, at the Catalina Club, immediately followed by the AGM. Everyone is invited to attend, but only financial members can vote at the AGM.
