Narooma Gold played against Bay Breakers in Batemans Bay last week. With four Bay teams playing at home there was a great atmosphere as they don’t have a chance to get together all that often.
When Narooma arrived at the courts Breakers were having a warm up and looked pretty serious, but once the Narooma girls were organised they joined their opponents for a good warm up before the match started.
Narooma girls were disappointed with their initial form when play began and lost the first two sets to Breakers 6/1 on both courts.
After a stern self-talk the Narooma girls pulled their socks up with Jenny and Narelle winning 6/2, Kathie and Paula lost 4/6 . At lunch Breakers were three sets up to Narooma’s one.
A lovely lunch was provided with lots of beautiful fruit, cheese, crackers, wraps, chicken and cake. I think we all come for the feast.
Both teams had a win each in next two sets. It was now 4/2 to Breakers but only six games in it. Narooma still had a chance if they could win the last two sets.
Breakers were certainly the better players on the day. Congratulations on a 5/3 win.
Overall on the day there were some big set winners but games were not that far apart with all teams trying hard to earn points in the lead-up to finals.
