Walter Thomassen at Maranatha is a very special man! Last week he organised the most wonderful 'French' day for guests and their partners. On Tuesday there was a showing of Les Miserables in the Maranatha theatre followed by high tea. Not content with that, on Saturday he did it all again, this time for those who are confined to their beds which were wheeled into the theatre. Guests and partners enjoyed high tea in a red white and blue decorated room with Master of Ceremonies Walter, dressed in true French style and mademoiselle Kim Bow assisting, along with other staff members. All in all? Bravo!

Happy birthday today to that hunk John Whitehouse from Araluen. Looking good John!
Southland Church have a program to keep marriage alive. Their recent date night was a great success, with many local couples attending and reporting back that it was wonderful!
I had a distressing walk on Denhams Beach this week when I witnessed a seagull being attacked by a dog. Most dog owners on the local beaches are very responsible but there are some who unfortunately are not. The dog finally ran off so I gathered the poor creature up and carried it home, hoping to nurse it back to health. Of course, the shock is probably what killed it. It worries me that the council is thinking of opening Wimbie to “leash free” as well.
Miss Batemans Bay 1968 (that's right isn't it Zelma?) Zelma Rixon is having a birthday this Sunday. No doubt hubby will be getting her breakfast in bed!
Gorgeous Bek Hardy celebrated her birthday last week and tried hard to keep it under wraps but alas Bek, you have friends who want the world to celebrate with you … via the Bay Post!
The Breast Cancer Awareness fund-raising day at Long Beach last Sunday was a great success! Vi Merritt, daughter Viviane and grand-daughter Violet all enjoyed the day. Vi caught up with old friend Maureen Nathan and her partner, so the chatter would have been very lively!
Tammy Nye, that lovely lady from Mogo, will also be celebrating next Tuesday with a birthday cake.
