Following the amazing efforts of the team visiting from Penrith Christian School to help Trish Silling in her garden for three hours of weeding, gutter cleaning etc. She is now inspired to keep the South Coast economy rolling by a timely visit to Bunnings and all things spring! The kids and their teachers were visiting the Batemans Bay Baptist Church last Wednesday to Sunday, helping the community and visiting various schools. The group consisted of 9 children and 4 teachers! What a great effort!
Congratulations to Richard Langshaw and Michele Taylor both ex pat Batemans Bay residents, who tied the knot in Sorrento this week.
Hazel Elliott turns 90 on Monday and is not looking a day over 89! Whatever night cream you are using Hazel, keep it up!
Susan Poke had a heart attack when she opened a snaky video, sent by who knows? She is alive and well recovered after a quick trip to the Batehaven Bakehouse!
Apparently Kim Ward from Tomakin received the same message and is recovering in ICU. Really some people do exaggerate!
As well as Floriade, garden enthusiasts be aware that the tulip festival at Corbett Gardens, Bowral opened during the week. A lovely day trip but come back and spend your dollars locally!
Happy Birthday and many more of them to Connie Welby this Sunday. Connie has lived through two centuries and is turning 90!
Local rockabilly dance band, The Jellybeans, had a very successful music gig in Milton last Friday night. Band manager Jo Elphick said a few gigs are planned for Batemans Bay - watch this space! The band members Jon, Jane Urbanik and Bill Elphick are a talented bunch who obviously love what they do.
Last Friday, the Katungul Gym had their official opening, with many attendees and special guest, former NRL footballer Preston Campbell. Wish I had been there!
Happy 5th birthday last Wednesday to beautiful Khaleesi Bell-Towers who is the best 'big sister' ever!
Bronwyn Geppert is off to Tassie for a week and lucky duck Maggie Lowe has been on the Majestic Princess from Singapore to Sydney!
Happy birthday to Noelene Cowdroy from Moruya … memories still linger of interstate school visits and the bus load of kids singing to her, “Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter!” She met her lovely husband Graeme at school, childhood sweethearts and still going strong, a great example to all of us!
Susan Pinnock had a week in LA to take the grandsons to Disneyland. Her eldest grandson Jude, just 6 years old has been very brave as he just finished allergy treatment in Salt Lake City. He was there for 7 months. He had excellent results but it will still be an ongoing process. Susan’s daughter, Alyssa Jude and Luca Wishart all went to the states and lived in the suburb of Layton in Salt Lake City where the Tanner Allergy Clinic is situated. There is normally about 12 Aussie families there at any one time, as this treatment is not available in Australia and has very good success rates. Wishing Jude all the best after his treatment.
Local social butterfly Joy Dillon had a birthday this week as well and has finally made it into the 40's … I think that's right?
