The shower of rain did not deter an audience of an even 100 from attending the meeting.
President Claudia Dixon proclaimed that the meeting was to celebrate the arrival of spring and members should dress in a bright, typically springy manner which women members managed easily but the blokes unfortunately were not so well represented in the brightness area.
Dr David Uren was the very interesting speaker who showed pictures and talked about his 50 years of “off the beaten track” travelling that started in the 1960s when he drove and camped around Europe in a Morris Mini Van.
Since then he has travelled through most of the usually inaccessible parts of Asia; done off-road caravanning in North Australia, as well as white-water rafting and hiking.
