Ms Kell’s acting career began young and today, the nonagenarian won’t let age hold her back from performing.
"I remember acting out stories when I was a child and at age six, I played a doll who came to life in an amateur theatre production,” Ms Kell said.
To this day, she still has the newspaper clipping of the show.
“My mother kept the newspaper report of the play and I still have that newspaper, dated 1932,” she said.
“My most prolific time in amateur theatre came when I moved to Dorrigo in 1973, and with the youngest of my five children in his final years at school, I joined the Dorrigo Dramatic Club.
“Over the next 40 years I produced, directed and acted in many productions, the most memorable and successful being Oliver in 1989 and Fiddler on the Roof in 1992.”
Now living in Moruya, Ms Kell was destined to join Red Door.
“When I knew I was moving to Moruya with my youngest daughter and son-in-law, the first thing I asked was, ‘Is there an amateur theatre group there?’ and the answer was ‘No’,” she said.
“However, we arrived in time to see the very first production of Red Door Theatre, and what joy. We couldn’t wait to join in.
“I was happy to be involved backstage with last year’s production of Peter Pan: The Eurobodalla Chapter, and humbled to be asked by our director Linda Heald, this year, to enact a song that has long been a favourite of hers
“I even get to dance a little in the piece, which keeps me on my toes!”
