Ellie-Rose Dixon celebrated her 10th birthday party on June 2 and in a heartwarming act, decided to have her long hair cut to raise funds for the Children’s Cancer Foundation.
Ellie smashed her $500 target, raising $1300 to fund cancer research and support young cancer patients and their families during treatment.
“Cancer has affected a lot of people around me, both in my family, my school and in my surrounding area,” Ellie said. “I wanted to find something that I could do to help.”
Ellie’s locks, which measured about 40cm, have been donated to help make a wig for a child receiving cancer treatment.
Helping with the cut was Leney from Mode Hair and Beauty in Moruya, who donated her time to give Ellie a fashionable new bob.
