A woman allegedly under the influence of the drug ice has been charged with dangerous driving after a serious crash near Braidwood.
Five people were taken to hospital on Tuesday following the crash, and three remain in a serious condition.
Emergency services were called to the Kings Highway south of Braidwood at about 2.15pm on Tuesday.
A police spokesman said the woman they charged was driving a coupe south on the Kings Highway when she allegedly crossed to the incorrect side of the road and collided with a northbound SUV and sedan, with a hatchback also sustaining damage.
A man and a woman in one of the cars, both aged 68, were taken to hospital, along with three occupants of another car - a 27-year-old woman, 19-year-old woman and 13-year-old boy.
Three people, including a woman aged 68, a woman aged 19 and a teenage boy aged 13 remain in a serious condition.
The driver of the coupe, a 39-year-old woman from Batemans Bay, was not injured. She was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine test.
Police will allege the woman was under the influence of methylamphetamine – better known as ice – at the time.
She was taken to Queanbeyan Police Station and charged with three counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
She was refused bail, and will appear in Queanbeyan Local Court on Wednesday afternoon.
