The spraying will reduce hazards caused by tree and shrub growth and help protect road pavements from tree root damage.
Metsulfuron (Brush-Off) and Glyphosate (Roundup) will be the two chemicals used to control the weeds.
Motorists are asked to take care around the slow-moving spraying vehicles.
The spraying is expected to take about two weeks and to be finished by Friday, December 22, weather permitting.
