UPDATE: 12.27pm: The Rural Fire Service has confirmed a blaze within a few hundred metres of homes at Nerrigundah is suspicious.
A spokesman told the Bay Post/Moruya Examiner firefighters were still trying to contain the blaze.
"It is a supicious fire someone has lit off Belowra Road," he said.
"It has gone into private property. We have numerous crews at the moment."
He said there were no properties under immediate threat, but the the nearest dwelling was a few hundred metres away.
"It is burning slowly downhill towards the village and crews," he said.
There was a light north-westerly wind and the fire was five hectares in size.

BREAKING 9AM: Rural Fire Service crews are working to contain a bush fire that has broken out on a property in Nerrigundah on Wednesday morning.
An RFS spokesperson said the four-hectare fire was located on private land on Belowra Road, with crews called to the scene at about 7.30am.
The spokesperson said the blaze did not pose “any immediate threats” despite burning on difficult terrain in unfavourable weather conditions.
Crews were working on strategies to prevent further spread of the fire, he said.
The fire danger rating in the Eurobodalla on Wednesday is high.
