The Bureau of Meteorology forecasts very heavy rain across the catchments of the Moruya River over the weekend. A Flood Watch has been issued: the rain may be heavy enough to cause localised flooding in low-lying areas.
If the weather system intensifies, the bureau will issue predicted flood heights at the Wamban and Moruya gauages for the Moruya river.
The SES advise farmers located on floodplains to be ready to move livestock and equipment such as pumps. People must avoid walking or driving through floodwaters. In particular, children should be kept away from streams and stormwater drains.
People requiring help with storm damage or flooding can contact their local SES Unit on 132 500 – please pronounce as “one three two five-hundred”.
