The Eurobodalla Shire Council will display the photographs in the exhibition ‘Growing Young – Stories of Old’, as a part of the 2017 Seniors Festival.
Ted Richards said of his shoot with Aboriginal elder Viveinne Mason, “She was demonstrating aboriginal arts to me. The things she makes all these headpieces and the like out of natural things, it was very interesting.”
“I took her photo sitting in her work room, surrounded by boxes of shells and feathers,” Mr Richards said.
“In the photo I chose for the exhibition, she is not looking at me. It’s like she was unaware I was even present.”
Eurobodalla Shire Council community development coordinator Zoe Morgan said the subjects inspired with their selfless giving and enjoyment of life.
“We’re hoping for a big crowd at the exhibition opening next Tuesday to help us celebrate these wonderful people and the images they’ve inspired,” Ms Morgan said.
The exhibition runs at the Mechanics Institute, Moruya, from 10am to 2pm, March 7 to 11.
