The World – the largest residential cruise ship on Earth – has anchored in Batemans Bay.
Seaside suburbs woke to the sight of the giant vessel on January 4.
With its passenger list of the rich and famous, The World is turning heads.
Passengers were ferried to Batemans Bay each half hour on Wednesday morning and will spend a day and evening exploring the Far South Coast, before sailing on to Eden on January 5.
They are then due to head to the Ross Sea, in Antarctica.
Artist Carmel Cox was taken with the sheer spectacle the vessel presented as she stood on her balcony in the light rain on the Wednesday morning.
“Tollgate Islands dwarfed by ship,” was her email header to the Bay Post/Moruya Examiner.
Catherine and Robert Brownlie were also excited to see the ship anchored off Denhams Beach.
“We live at Quarterdeck in Barbara Crescent and can see it beautifully from our back yard,” Mrs Brownlie said.
“We couldn’t believe our eyes when we woke up and saw it sitting out to sea, then it sailed in.
“We are very excited.”
