North Broulee Beach was transformed into a world of starving sea monsters, long-thought extinct Thylacine, comical cartoon characters, extravagant castles, ostentatious boats and even a sandy sandwich in the annual Broulee Sand Modelling competition.

52 teams competed in the event on New Years Eve, including over 20 teams registering on the day.
The event has been running 12 years, however was cancelled last year due to COVID. Many teams competing come from all over Australia, including Tasmania, Queensland and Victoria, entering annually while on the south coast for their summer holiday.
Prizes were awarded for best sandcastle and best sand sculpture in both the junior and opens categories.
There was a distinct theme of COVID-19 and vaccinations inspiring many of the sculptures, including 'Get Vaxed' which took out first place in the open sculpture category.
Team 'Sandy Cracks' from Broulee took out first place in the junior sculpture category.
The event is run by Broulee Surf and sponsored by local community businesses.
