"We can expect wet, windy and cold conditions starting Friday and throughout the weekend, and there's potential for minor flooding of our rivers - the Clyde, Deua/Moruya, Tuross," a spokesperson said.
A car was flooded trying to drive through Congo floodwaters in the most recent East Coast Low which hit on July 25, 26, and 27, and police repeated warnings for everyone to avoid waterways in such events.
Builders are asked to secure construction sites in advance.
SES recommends people in areas threatened by flooding should:
- Stay up to date with information and follow warnings - listen to or follow NSW SES, local radio, BOM, Live Traffic.
- Consider collecting essentials in a waterproof bag: food, water, warm clothes, medications, valuables, important documents, toys for children in case you need to leave.
- Keep pets close by, always know where they are.
- Clean up yards and secure moveable objects such as trampolines, BBQs and outdoor furniture.
- Farmers and businesses are encouraged to move pumps, animals and equipment to higher ground in case roads close and organise for sufficient stock feed and water for your animals. Also move poisons, waste and chemicals to high storage locations.
- Builders and construction site managers are reminded to prepare sites before the rain, and monitor and manage sediment.
- Check on your family, friends and neighbours and share this information.
- Safety is your highest priority - never drive, walk or play in flood waters.
