Crews were based at Hazel Street since 9am this morning and were due to finish mid-afternoon.
Fire and Rescue NSW duty commander Jason Murphy.
"Crews are reducing the fuel load, doing a strategic burn to give us a buffer," Fire and Rescue NSW duty commander Jason Murphy said.
Mr Murphy said the burn was less than 26 hectares. Smoke may be visible in the area.
