The Comberton fire south of Nowra has been dowgraded to the advice alert level by the RFS.
It is in the Forest Road, Comberton area. The fire is more than 900 hectares in size and remains out of control. Fire activity is increasing in the Worrigee area and continues around Forest Road.
- If you are in the Worrigee area, watch out for embers and spot fires. Know what you will do if the fire threatens.
- If you are in the areas of East Nowra, Pyree, Culburra, Greenwell Point and Comerong, monitor the changing conditions.
The Tianjara fire is burning on both sides of Braidwood Road and west of Jannung Lane near Tianjara. The fire is more than 21,000 hectares in size and is out of control. The fire is burning north towards the Turpentine Road. Firefighters, supported by aircraft and heavy plant machinery, are working to slow the spread of the fire. Smoke is affecting Braidwood Road and Sassafras.
The Currowan fire is burning between Batemans Bay and Ulladulla and east of Braidwood. The fire is more than 169,000 hectares and is being controlled. Communities should monitor conditions and enact fire plans as needed.
The Comberton fire forced the evacuation of urban residents south of Nowra on Saturday, December 21. However conditions eased overnight. It is burning in the Forest Road area and is more than 200 hectares in size and is out of control. Firefighters are working to slow the spread of the fire.
