A man was initially reported to be trapped in the vehicle but did not suffer major injuries and was taken to Batemans Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
The car remained in the Burson Auto Parts shopfront before it was removed by a tow truck and emergency crews. See pictures below.
Ambulance vehicles, police and Batemans Bay Fire and Rescue attended the scene. An SES vehicle attended the scene after the car was removed from the shopfront to help stabilise the building.
NSW Ambulance acting duty operations manager Craig Potts said paramedics assessed an approximately 80-year-old male with minor injuries.
He said the man was taken to Batemans Bay Hospital and was in a stable condition.
He said NSW Police was investigating the cause.
"Fortunately there were no pedestrians or persons injured as a result of the accident," he said.
Batemans Bay Fire and Rescue incident controller Craig Mashman said they used an industrial prop to stabilise the building while the car was removed.
"On arrival we found one male in a vehicle trapped fully inside the premises," he said.
"There has been a partial collapse of the building structure which we have stabilised."
He said assessing safety to the victim, emergency services and others at the scene was the priority before they could pull out the car.
He said turning the power off and assessing the structural integrity of the building were also necessary factors.
Building owner praises first responders
Owner of the building where the crash took place, Adam Pike, was glad the driver in the crash was safe and not badly hurt.
He was also glad the auto parts shop staff were safe, as they were "so close to the impact".
He said he was impressed at how professional and efficient first responders were at the scene.
