Eleonora Spina and Michele Benignetti play music by Mendelssohn, Saint-Saen, Schubert and Rachmaninov.
Piano for four hands provides the intimacy of two people making music together. It also requires two musicians, used to playing an entire piano, to share the 88 keys. Playing together in such close quarters requires perfect timing and compatibility-, delivering the big and complex sound of a piano played across its entire range.
The South Coast Music Society is bringing the Spina-Benignetti Piano Duo to Batemans Bay for the first of its 2019 four-concert series. Eleonora Spina and Michele Benignetti are compelling and talented young performers. Both renowned solo and chamber musicians, they began playing as a piano duo in 2013 and within a year were winning international competitions and acclaim. Their album, Lifetime, won gold medals at the 2017 Global Music Awards for both Best Album and Best Emerging Artists.
Based in Europe, in 2019 Eleonora and Michele are touring China, France, Italy Australia, and New Zealand. Eleanora and Michele are Official Yamaha Artists and the Australian leg of their tour is sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institute, Sydney.
The other concerts this year will feature mezzo soprano Celeste Haworth (Sunday, May 26), Kristian Chong (piano) and Sophie Rowell (Violin, (Sunday, September 29), and The Chrysalis Trio (Sunday, December 1).
Spina-Benignetti piano duo concert is on 3pm, Sunday, February 24 at: St Bernard’s Catholic Church, 2 David St, Batehaven
