The sleek, uncluttered digital design and streamlined functions make the website easy to navigate.
Purpose-built to provide a regular “feed” of your favourite local news, plus touch-enabled galleries for superior display of photos, the new batemansbaypost.com.au is optimised for viewing on any mobile device.
From September 5, you can subscribe to receive the latest news updates from Batemans Bay, Moruya and the surrounding region - all gathered and published by the local journalists of the Bay Post and Moruya Examiner.
Digital subscriptions for access to local news, sport and community information will cost $1 a week. Access for the first month is free. Subscribers will be billed monthly and can opt out at any time.
Website visitors can register for a free weekly e-newsletter of local news highlights curated by editor Kerrie O’Connor.
The launch of the new-look Bay Post/Moruya Examiner website and the introduction of digital subscriptions follows the recent roll-out of digital-first publishing technology at Fairfax Media’s publications across the Illawarra and NSW South Coast.
Group managing editor Kim Treasure said the new site would continue to provide a proudly local perspective on events and issues.
“We’re changing the way we present and publish local news for our digital audiences,” Ms Treasure said.
“But our commitment to providing your favourite local reading isn’t changing, including coverage of breaking news and important council and other community issues. Our local journalists take great pride in telling local stories.”
The publishing technology now used at the Bay Post/Moruya Examiner is at the forefront of newspaper and website production worldwide, and allows journalists in the field to publish news immediately at batemansbaypost.com.au.
The $1.60 cover price of the newspaper, which is published on Wednesdays and Fridays, remains unchanged.
