Our first activity, on Saturday, February 6, is with well-known television personality and horticulturist Angus Stewart whose talk will be about “Why is the Australian Garden Changing?”
Angus has a special affinity with Australian plants and has for years been a grower, breeder and marketer of many new plants.
In recent years he has promoted a range of new Kangaroo Paws as well as Pandorea forms and other smaller plants and believes that native plants need not be restricted to a native garden.
Our enjoyment of a garden comes from the choice of colour, form and texture and not where the plant comes from.
In his latest publication The Australian Native Garden, A Practical Guide Angus and co-author A.B. Bishop discuss the reasons why they think Australian gardens are evolving.
This new book is written in an approachable and accessible style and discusses their thoughts on how gardeners across the country are all contributing to this evolving Australian style.
Following Angus’s comprehensive presentation he will lead a question and answer session.
There will be a special raffle, first prize being a signed copy of Angus’ latest book and he has also offered two sets of his latest Kangaroo Paws, each set comprising six plants.
There will be signed books for sale, a sale of plants from Angus, some special grafted plants from Phil Trickett of Milton and a range of smaller plants for sale from group members.
This exciting event is open to the public for a gold coin donation from non-members.
Join us on Saturday, February 6, at St John’s Church hall in Page Street, Moruya next to the Mechanics Institute near the corner with Campbell Street.
The event will commence at 10am and finish at approximately 1pm.
