A BATEMANS Bay businessman indicated he would plead not guilty to an assault charge when he appeared in Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday.

Daryn John Stocks, of Bavarde Ave, Batemans Bay, a business director for Stocks Project Management/Property Maintenance (SPM), appeared before Magistrate Chris Bone charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
It was alleged Mr Stocks attacked a customer on August 6 at 11am when the man went to his business to discuss the installation of a hot water system in his home.
In tendered police facts, it was alleged Mr Stocks pulled the man over the front counter and punched him.
It is then alleged the accused walked through a door to the other side of the counter and continued punching him in the head about 20 times, repeatedly saying “I’m going to kill you, you bastard”.
According to the facts, the fight was broken-up by another staff member.
The alleged victim was taken to hospital a short time later, suffering bruising and swelling to the right jaw and upper lip, and cuts behind the left ear and on his right cheek.
He was granted an interim apprehended violence order (AVO) against Mr Stocks last month, which is to continue.
Mr Bone ordered bail to continue. Mr Stocks is due to appear before the court again on October 25.
