David John Drady, 22, faced Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday, pleading guilty to four charges including behaving in an offensive manner in a public place, assaulting an officer, resisting an officer and destroying/damaging property.
Police said Drady was drinking at Club Malua on the night of August 5 before he caught the club’s courtesy bus and became disruptive and confrontational towards other passengers.
After the driver had told him on several occasions to settle down, police said Drady’s behaviour escalated, and he became aggressive and began verbally abusing passengers, some of whom were elderly.
The accused started to try and fight patrons and he was restrained by a number of males.

“The accused started to try and fight patrons and he was restrained by a number of males,” police said.
After contacting police, officers intercepted the bus on Beach Road, Catalina. Police said Drady attempted to fight police, launching himself at officers several times. Police narrowly missed Drady’s headbutts.
The behaviour continued during his arrest and time in custody at Batemans Bay Police Station, where Drady “spat profusely” and “urinated all over the floor of the dock”.
Defence solicitor Adam Sumbak told the court Drady struggled to remember the incident.
“It’s out of character. He provides no excuse and accepts responsibility for what he’s done,” Mr Sumbak said.
Magistrate Doug Dick said the court had to protect police and users of courtesy buses before placing Drady on a two-year good behaviour bond. He was also fined $3600.
