A police spokesperson said emergency services were called to the scene 10 kilometres south of Moruya just after midday on Friday, January 14, following reports of a two-vehicle crash.
"Police have been told a silver hatchback was travelling west on Bingie Road at Bergalia before turning onto the Princes Highway, where it collided with a white van," the spokesperson said.
"The female P-Plater driver, aged 17, of the hatchback died at the scene - she is yet to be formally identified.
"The driver of the van, a 62-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Moruya Hospital for mandatory testing."
The spokesperson said stop/slow (contraflow) traffic control was in place on one southbound lane, and motorists were advised to "avoid the area".
"An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the crash, and a report will be prepared for the information of the coroner," the spokesperson said.
NSW Ambulanc sent three units to the scene, and a team from the Moruya Road Crash Rescue Unit also attended.
