Batemans Bay and Nelligen RFS brigades were called to the swamp-like terrain between the bridge and a caravan park, inaccessible to fire trucks, Batemans Bay RFS captain Ian Aitken said.
Firefighters used a portable pump, using water from the creek, to extinguish the flames.
Mr Aitken said the blaze started at an unattended camp fire, and burnt through camp chairs, bottles and a tarp.
He reminded the public to extinguish fires responsibly, and light only when it was legal to do so.
"It is incredibly disappointing to see this still occurring after all our area has been through," a Batemans Bay RFS spokesperson said.
"Our crew also noticed there was also rubbish dumped in the same area."
