The case of a man accused of lighting a fire in the Deua Valley has been adjourned for a month as bushfire damage has prevented his defence from communicating with him.

Christopher Paul McMahon, 71, of Araluen Road, was due to appear in Moruya Local Court on Friday, February 7, but solicitor Keely Boom said it had been impossible to communicate with him by phone or post.
Araluen Road has been closed since before Christmas, 2019, due to the risk of bushfire and postal and phone services are unavailable.
McMahon is charged with lighting a hazard reduction fire without a permit on December 26, 2019, and with permitting a fire on the same day to escape and cause damage and/or injury.
His case was delayed on Friday, January 10, when most court sittings in the Eurobodalla Shire were suspended due to the ongoing bushfire crisis.
McMahon is now due to appear in Moruya Local Court on Friday, March 13.
