Eighty-three runners and walkers completed the Batemans Bay parkrun course on Saturday morning in cool and overcast conditions. With the threat of rain hanging around, this was a great turnout and demonstrates the increasing popularity of parkrun in Batemans Bay and around the world.

Every week the parkrun is made possible by the generosity of volunteers who give up their Saturday mornings and the chance to run or walk so that others get the opportunity for some healthy exercise.
This week our thanks go to Mat Lambert, Caroline Booth, Robyn Kennedy, Mike Kennedy, Steve Ralston, Gail Legg and Kim Young.
We had quite a few people who took advantage of the cooler weather and pushed themselves to achieve personal best times on the course.
Congratulations to Christopher Hancock, Rebecca Shepheard, Liam Hopman, Nathan Hopman, Theresa Hopman, Kelly Blewitt, Victoria Schuh, Nina Bass, Christine Ralston, Lyn Benn, Julie Amphlett, Jacob Snow and Anna Snow.
Straight after this week's parkrun, a few of the team headed in to the Batemans Bay foreshore to accept the Eurobodalla Shire Council's invitation to promote parkrun at its Waterfront Weekend event. We are hopeful that we managed to recruit a few new faces to parkrun.
In talking to the public we found that a common misconception is that the event is all about running. "I couldn't possibly run 5kms!" seemed to be a common response.
Quite a few were surprised and pleased to hear that walkers are made just as welcome as runners and that we are keen to see more walkers join us for Saturday morning exercise and community connection.
All runners and walkers are welcome to join us on the 5km course, including dogs (one per person, well controlled and on a short lead). We meet every Saturday morning at 7.50am for the 8am start.
You can register online at www.parkrun.com.au to obtain a barcode which you must print and bring along with you every week to get a recorded result. The venue is Rotary Park near the Marina roundabout in Batemans Bay.
