“The majority of people in racing are there because they have a passion for the industry or the sport, so there’s the chance to follow that passion and get remunerated at the same time,” he said.
“The industry is developing greatly. In Moruya the number of horses we have in training every year is increasing exponentially, and if the administration continues the way it is it can only get better.

“Like any industry, there are plenty of opportunities for people who want to be involved, for people that just have a love of animals or a love of horses, there’s strapping or training, for those who are physically able there’s riding, the industry is now playing reasonably well.”
Mr Nelson inititally became involved with the club as a sponsor, but when an opportunity came up to be on the board, he jumped at it.
“Racing is in my blood – when I was a child my father was involved in racing, my family was involved in racing, and as a result I’ve been interested all my life,” he said.
“The general excitement, it’s an opportunity to mingle with friends and it’s a very good day out, a very enjoyable afternoon.
“Under the current administration of Racing NSW the future looks outstanding.”
