After her brilliant performance at last month’s RDA dressage competition with her horse, Ace, Ms Blay then trained for her first RDA state competition at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre in mid-August.
Ms Blay came second overall and the horse she rode, Mouse, came first throughout the three-day competition.
“I don’t think I have my vision impairment when I’m up on the horse,” Ms Blay said.
“I just have lots of fun.
“It’s not all about winning. I just enjoy competing.”
She not only competed in dressage, but also in the Gymkhana Games. In this particular Gymkhana event Ms Blay had to do 11 obstacles. She had to train her horse, Mouse, to walk backwards which is very difficult and complicated action for a horse.
“I had such an awesome weekend in Sydney,” Ms Blay said.
“Mouse helped me be more confident in this competition.
I could not have done it without him and he could not have done it without me.
“I definitely will be back next year at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre.”
