Batemans Bay Fire and Rescue said the fire was opposite the Caltex service station on the highway, near the golf course, and posed a potential threat to houses.
Moruya Fire and Rescue, Moruya RFS, Broulee RFS, Tuross Head RFS and Batemans Bay Fire and Rescue all attended.
All units worked together to bring the blaze under control and extinguish it.
Moruya Fire and Rescue said the blaze was burning fiercely under high winds, and cautioned people to be aware that conditions are extremely dry, and fires can move fast even under light winds.
