Is it a mouse? Is it a plane? Or is it a sugar glider just popping in?
One Eurobodalla household woke up to that dilemma this morning, Saturday, October 21.
Rachel Sweeney said their unexpected visitor must have arrived a few days ago, but has been too shy to say hello until today.
“I thought I saw a mouse run through the house the other day – I thought it must have been a sick mouse because it ran so slowly I could have caught it,” she said.
This morning the potential mouse revealed itself to be something quite different.
“I was fluffing the cushions in the lounge room,” she said.
“I could just see it’s little tail poking out from under a cushion I sit on all the time when I’m watching TV – it’s a really fluffy one, and I thought ‘Oh my God, there’s a dead mouse under there’.
“Then I realised it had a flat tail.
“I lifted up the cushion, thinking it must have suffocated and it ran up my arm.
“It’s teeny tiny, about as big as my thumb.”
The baby glider is due to be returned to his family, who live nearby.
