The Bay Tigers reserves went down to the competition-leading Candelo-Bemboka Panthers at McKay park on Sunday.
The visitors downed their hosts 32-10.
“After what has become a trademark slow start, we managed to regroup and turn a narrow half time lead into a good result,” Candelo-Bemboka captain-coach Jake McDonald said.
McDonald said it was some of the club’s big men putting in work to get through the smaller front line of their opposition.
“Trent Rollason made an immediate impact when he was bought into the game making easy metres and setting up a try, while Josh Cochrane also had a big game topped off with two tries,” he said.
Tries for Batemans Bay were claimed by Reece Nye off the bench and hooker Ben Carmody.
