Tuross Head
Men
Pennant Results
It has been another successful round for the two Tuross teams with both sides prevailing in their contests.
The Grade 5 side travelled to Dalmeny and came home 9 – 1 winners. John Fahey’s team led the way with a big win despite a tight battle for much of the game. After 17 ends they were in front by 4 shots but over the last four ends they picked up 14 shots to win 29 – 11.
In a high scoring game John Monks’ team picked up two scores of 6 to win 30 – 24. The scores were locked at 18 all after 14 ends but the Tuross Head team had the better of the last 7 ends.
Bruce Taylor’s side struggled from the start and despite picking up 9 shots over the last 3 ends went down 20 – 25.
Overall Tuross won by 79 shots to 60.
The grade 7 side recorded their second 10 – 0 victory with a good win over Braidwood.
Ronnie Richardson’s team finished strongly to win 21 – 11. On the back of good bowls from lead Julian Penny and Richardson himself the team led early only to see the visitors fight back to trail by just 1, 12 – 11, after 14 ends. The locals then won the remaining 7 ends to record a good win.
Stuart Grahams’ team came from behind twice to win 20 – 16. Again the locals finished strongly winning the last 6 ends.
Ian Wratten’s four had a good early lead – 11 – 3 after 7 ends – only to see the Braidwood side draw even by the 12th end. The sides traded the lead over the final ends of the game with Wratten picking up a crucial four shots on the 19th end to guide them to a 21 – 17 win.
Tuross ended with a 62 – 44 win making it two out of two to start the season.
Both pennant teams are at home this week with Grade 5 playing Moruya and the Grade 7 playing Bodalla.
