Batemans Bay’s Open Women’s surfboat crew headed north on the weekend for the third round of Warilla Bowls Surfboat Series.
Despite having two debutants in their ranks, the crew managed two second placing and a third placing to progress to the final.
Batemans Bay surfboat captain Neil Innes said it was a strong effort from the crew members who were competing in their first ever carnival.
“They did really well,” he said.
“They were a bit far back in the final, but I think they were pretty exhausted from the previous rounds,” he said.
The Bay men will be in action this Saturday for the third round of Ocean Thunder Surfboat Series in Dee Why.
The Bay crew made it to the semi finals of the second round which was held at the beginning of December.
The fourth and final event of the series will be held on February 4.
