EDEN-Monaro MP Peter Hendy said he had supported the Southern NSW Medicare Local’s bid to become a Primary Health Network, but hoped the new system would deliver more efficient services.

“The Government expects the new public health networks to provide a more efficient delivery of health outcomes to patients,” Dr Hendy said.
“It is focussed on primary health care and not back-room bureaucracy. The relevant region stretches far beyond the electorate of Eden-Monaro, into several NSW federal electorates. I had supported the bid from the previous Southern NSW Medicare Local, not least because it is based in Moruya.
“I will be working with the winning bidders to ensure that as many jobs related to the delivery of services remain in our local towns.”
