Councillor Peter Schwarz, who first moved a motion to investigate a deep-water marina, said council’s deep water marina committee would present a concept for the project to the December 9 council meeting.
It is proposed to be located at Corrigans Beach foreshore between Birdland and the Clyde River training wall at the Marine Rescue base.
Preliminary ideas for the project so far include a multi-storey five-star resort complex, a recreational boating club, hardstand for boat maintenance and dry-boat storage for up to 100 boats.
The first step in the project is to gain the support of the council and the NSW Government, without which it would be unlikely to obtain interest from the private sector.
