It folded after a wet summer caused havoc for the group at Surfside Fields but a move to Mackay Park helped rejuvenate the club.
Batemans Bay Little Athletics Club president Dale Blake moved to town about two years ago and wanted to find a closer club for his daughters to join.
“Moruya was not an option because it was hard to get down there after school,” Blake said.
He put a message on Facebook and garnered some interest and those people banded together to form the club’s new committee.
The club is still in its “setting up and buying stage” but children can run or play games such as discus, shotput or jumping.
“We’ll eventually have equipment for javelin, hurdles, high jump,” Blake said.
Blake said he was rapt with the turnout for the first two meetings.
“I was amazed by the turnout on our first day. We had 45 kids,” he said.
“We’ve got great numbers through the under fives to the under 10s and up.”
The Batemans Bay Little Athletics Club meets from 9am to noon each Saturday at Mackay Park.
The club hopes to host a come and try day, which will be announced in the coming weeks.
“Anyone is welcome to come and try,” Blake said.
“It gives the kids something to do on a Saturday.”
