One commuter reported to the Bay Post/Moruya Examiner the effluent was over a foot thick at the north end of the town, on Tuesday, May 23.
“It continued very thick for a couple of hundred metres, but had thinned out by southern end of town,” he said.
He said police and Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) were in attendance but no traffic control was in place when he passed through.
A police spokesman said the load originated from a Kenworth truck carrying manure to a garden centre in Moruya.
“The heavy vehicle was travelling south,” he said.
“About 800 metres north of Mogo the two rear doors opened a large amount of the load fell onto the road, with the driver unaware. Some load was intermittently dropped all the way to Moruya.
“When the driver arrived in Moruya he noticed a small amount of load on the road behind the truck and contacted police. Police are making further enquiries,” he said.
RMS have been contacted for comment. The Eurobodalla Shire Council were contacted but unaware of the incident.
