Following a long and trying lockdown period, the Batemans Bay Boars decided to hold a get-together and play some golf last Sunday, November 7.

The players got down to the Club Catalina Golf Course, which is also a major sponsor of the club, for a four-man ambrose.
"We had a really good day," Boars club president, Peter Ryan, said.
"It was a chance to get the players together after a year of COVID restrictions. We couldn't have an end of season trip or anything, so we got together for a hit and a giggle."
Hit-and-giggle certainly seems to have been the primary method of play last weekend according to some of the awards given out.
Ryan himself was a member of the winning team (and claimed the Closest to Pin accolade), alongside Chris Minihan, Brian Minihan, and Jason Leplaw.
Max Harrison won the Pest of the Day/Stretching the Friendship award, for undisclosed antics which earned him the nomination not just from his own group, but two others as well.
Leplaw won the Can't Find the Hole award, while Angus Knight claimed the Missing Balls accolade, and Jim Roberts was the unlucky winner of the First out of the Blocks medal after cleaning up a visiting Sydneysider with just his second tee shot of the day.
The event was initially organised by outgoing coach, Matt Ryan, after several attempts at scheduling some club trips were foiled by COVID-19 restrictions.
Due to the popularity of the Golf Day, Ryan is certainly open to making it a regular fixture on the calendar, and potentially even increasing the scale of the event.
"It's quite possible, and you don't know from year to year what's available and who's available," he said.
"But certainly on the success of last week we'd like to think we can keep doing it annually and it could potentially grow a lot bigger.
"We only reserved enough spots for players, but a lot of the Golden Oldies showed a lot of interest, we had to knock back about a dozen of them because we couldn't fit them in on the day. So if we go broader to the club, involve the sponsors, committee members, and ex players, it could be double or three times the size. It could be a real bonding session, for sure."
After the 2021 season finished in a disappointing fashion, with the competition called off early due to the statewide lockdown, Ryan said there was clearly no lack of motivation among the players to make amends next year.
"We started this season with so much potential," he said.
"But we got belted by more injuries than we've ever seen before, and then there were no semi-finals. So hopefully next year gets back to normality."
The Boars will now focus on their upcoming AGM, which is scheduled for Sunday, December 5. This will also double as the club's Christmas party and Junior and Senior Presentation Day.
