Ms Hodgkinson is a former NSW Government minister and has been endorsed to run against Coalition Liberal Party candidate Warren Mundine.
Speculation has been rife for some time that she would run, after the Liberal Party's branch was overruled on its original choice of Grant Schultz.
Mr Schultz will contest the seat as an independent. Retiring incumbent Ann Sudmalis defeated Labor's current candidate, Fiona Phillips, by just 0.5 percent in the 2016 federal election.
Ms Hodgkinson was a NSW Government minister for four year, spent two years as a Parliamentary Secretary, and was a Shadow Minister for several years.
She said her priorities for Gilmore included "ensuring the proper upgrade of the Princes Highway, mental health support, infrastructure improvements for public facilities, reducing unemployment, ensuring the NDIS is a success for the local area and supporting our defence personnel and those in need".
Katrina is a former Minister for Primary Industries, Minister for Small Business, Assistant Minister for Tourism and Major Events in the NSW Government.
