On Saturday, January 12 the final pennant trial was held prior to commencing pennants in February. Saturday’s winners were Jeff Tierney, Allen Holloway, Tim Kovacs and Steve Rootsey. Runners up were Jamie Woodward, Alex Scorrano, Lindsay Hayes and Kaine Malone. The start date for pennants has yet to be confirmed but is expected to be February 2.

Tomakin Twist Tops
There were 46 bowlers back on deck last Sunday after the Christmas holidays, although Twisties didn’t have a break.
President Steven welcomed everyone, making a special mention that John Booth has just celebrated his 60th birthday.
Breakfast trays won by Dick Morley on 5 and Wayne Toogood on 25.
Winners on highest winning margin were Henry Butler and John Signor while runners up were Roland Krikowa and Maria Colquhoun.
Rink 13 was selected to try for Jackpot with the cards cut by Di Zeibell but no luck. Best wishes to Sue Gregory: hope your hand is getting better and we will see you back on the green soon.
Dates to remember: there will be a barbecue breakfast on Sunday, January 27 and our trip to Albion Park has been booked for the first weekend in November.

Malua Bay Women
Last Tuesday there were 36 ladies on the green enjoying their morning of bowls.
Winners were those on lowest winning margin: Eileen Penman, Cathy Egan and Pat Bill. Runners-up on Highest Winning Margin were Judy Armstrong, Pat Weekes and Noleen Taylor.
Other winners with some very close scores: Serena Short, Anne O’Dwyer, Marg Wisbey; Joan Rimmer, Shirley Edwards, Jenny Blyth; Robyn Butcher, Helen Rees, Marg Bridges; Anna Stewart, Jan Tonks, Karen Signor.
President Robyn Butcher presented certificates to two of our bowlers on their 25th year of bowling. Congratulations to Shirley Edwards and Yvonne Huddleston on this great milestone.
Pennant teams have been selected so you can check who you will have in your teams for the coming season.
There is also a 4-a-side team which will only bowl once a week on Tuesdays.
Malua Bay Sunday Sippers
What a fabulous morning for 33 sippers to be out on the green enjoying their morning of bowls.
A special welcome to our visitors. Always lots of friendship so come along and bowl to some great music followed by a light lunch.
Lots of fines were given out with too many reasons to mention but all funds go to charity.
Winners were Maree McInnes and Barry Winter a visitor.
The DH award went to Ian Stewart.

Social Triples: Thursday, January 10.
We had two welcome visitors today, Lyle Billingham and John Puttock from Junee.
The winners were Jamie Cormie, Dick Pooley, and Jim Martin with a margin of plus 16.
The runners up were Barrie Stone, Bert barker, and Henry Garad with a plus 13.
Jim Martin drew his own rink for the jackpot draw, but did not pick the joker, and the $500 jackpot rolls over to next week. The deck is thinning out so the jackpot will go off soon.
Nominated Pairs: Monday, January 14.
Forty eight bowlers enjoyed twenty one ends of pairs under clear blue sunny skies today.
The winners were Dave McCraw and Pat Canny with a margin of plus 32, a BIG win. The runners up on countback with a plus 18 were Fred Goodman and Allan Collins.
The jackpot draw went to Steve Hall, the winning skip on rink 4. The $500 kitty is still sitting there begging for a lucky winner.
2019 Club Championships
Don’t forget the first two rounds of the Club Fours will be played this weekend. Round one will be played on Saturday, January 19 and round two on Sunday, January 20. Cards will be called at 12.15pm for commencement of play at 12.30pm.
The final is expected to be played Sunday, January 27.
A friendly reminder that nominations are now open for Club Triples.

Wednesday Men’s Triples, January 9: Highest Winning Margin went to Thompson, Peter Hattam and Peter Pickett 39-14 over Bob Robbins, Bill Wilton and Paul Naylor. Runners Up went to Nev Butt, Greg Ryan and Keith Bowater 30-8 from John Downie, ‘Cal’ Callaway and John Breust.
Saturday Men’s, January 12: 34 bowlers endured very hot and sticky conditions with Craig Campbell, Ian Smart and Carl Lee having a good 24-17 win over Bobby Robbins, Bill Wilton and Paul Naylor. Runners Up were John Puttick, Craig Shaw and Jeff McCusker 24-11 from Peter Dillon, Alan Shaw (Craig’s dad !!) and John McNamara.
Men’s 4’s Finals, Saturday, January 12: As you would expect there were some very close scores during this competition overall with the wet weather forcing both the semi-final and final being played on the same day. In the semi, Butt, Armstrong, Herman and Bowater got home against Dillon, Cummins, Palmer and Gale 19-17. But the final proved to be different with Nev Butt, Col Armstrong, Dave Herman and Keith Bowater 20-9 winners over Warren Bender, Jeremy Seaton, Peter Robson and John Downie.
Sunday Social, January 13: Highest Winning Margin went to Cindy, Ken Burrows and Tony Gors with a 26-6 win from Coral Read, Daryl Goodrich and Patricia Wood. Runners Up were Baxter Smith, Sue Wales and Margaret Naylor 20-9 winners over Julie Smith, Charles Dimagio and Merrie Downie.
Narooma Women
Narooma Womens Bowls Club ladies returned to play on January 8, with the weather being very mild until about lunch time when it became quite hot. As this was the second Tuesday of the month it was our first Mad Tuesday for the year, with the colour purple our dress code for the day. Best dressed went to Gail Palmer. There were 2 rinks of triples and 1 rink of pairs. The winning leads out of the hat were Maureen Finlay and shared with Lorraine Mitchell from rink (3), the winning second/skip from rink (4) Sandra Breust and the skip from rink (2) Merrie Downie.
